Kinda like the "By God ki Kasam", uttered solemnly (the worse the lie, more the solemnity) with the thumb and the index pinching the adam's apple...
A similar convoluted construct was used in that awesome spoof, "Andaz Apna Apna": "Galti se mistake ho gaya, Sir." Makes the confessor seem so much more human.
